Disability Resources
American Association of People with Disabilities (AAPD)
is the largest national non-profit cross disability member organization in the United States. This site offers a comprehensive resource guide for persons with disabilities as well as access to an on-line Mobility and Access Loan Program made available from the Digital Federal Credit Union.
AARP (formerly known as the American Association of Retired Persons)
is an organization that addresses the needs and interests of persons 50 and older. This site includes links to a section on Universal Design: Home Modifications.
Community Action Agency of PA (CAAP)
The CAAP is a statewide association representing and assisting the 43 Community Action Agencies (CAAP). CAAP agencies administer and/or provide linkages to programs that assist low-income individuals with housing needs, employment, utility programs and nutrition assistance.
Easy Access to Services for Independence
is an online resource (developed by the Inglis Foundation) designed to make finding programs and services for daily living activities easier for people with disabilities and seniors.
Job Accommodation Network (JAN)
is a free consulting service that provides information about job accommodations, the ADA and the employability of people with disabilities.
Office of Vocational Rehabilitation (OVR)
The Pennsylvania Office of Vocational Rehabilitation, or OVR, provides vocational rehabilitation services to help persons with disabilities prepare for, obtain, or maintain employment. Assistive technology is an eligible service if the need and justification is included in the participant’s plan.
PA Client Assistance Program (CAP)
provides information and advice about rehabilitation programs, helps resolve problems that may arise while seeking services from rehabilitation programs, and helps pursue administrative and legal remedies to protect the rights of individuals.
PA Health Law Project
PHLP provides free legal services to lower-income consumers, seniors, and persons with disabilities who are having trouble accessing publicly funded healthcare coverage or services (including home and community-based waiver services).
PA Power Port
is the official website for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. This site has links to state agencies, the General Assembly, and legislative research.
Social Security Administration
provides information on Supplemental Security Income, Social Security Disability Income, and other helpful links.
